Minnesota Youth Convention

October 16-18, 2025

Minnesota Youth Convention (MYC) is a three-session, two-day conference in Rochester, MN. Churches from across the state gather for this impactful event to grow, worship and build community. We can’t wait to return and dominate at late-night dodgeball on Friday night after the final session. Emmanuel Live will be leading worship, Joey Silva will be the evening speaker, and Pastor Gabi O’Rourke will lead the missions service on Friday afternoon.

New this year: Thursday afternoon, after check-in, we will do a River Valley Church only YTH+ session where students will gather in small groups, discuss questions and dive deeper into the Word of God. This was previously done in Rochester Friday morning.

Early Bird | $215

Ends September 11

Regular | $255

Ends September 24

Scholarship Information

Scholarship: Scholarships are offered based on availability and need. They are not guaranteed. We offer full and 50% scholarships!

Scholarship applications are offered on a first come basis and will close on September 12 or whenever funds are gone.

What to Pack & Prohibited Item Policies

What is the phone & device Policy?

Unlike camp, students are welcome to bring their phones to MYC (this is encouraged!). However, we ask for all additional devices to be left at home. It is helpful for students to have their phones to communicate with each other and their leaders throughout the week.

Is there a packing list?

Pack what you would to stay at a hotel! There will be 3-4 students in each room. Be sure to bring a physical Bible, notebook and a water bottle. Otherwise, pack whatever else you would pack for a hotel stay.

Is there anything I should NOT bring?

Due to damages to hotel and camp property, body paint and glitter is strictly prohibited! If there are any damages to rooms because of these products being used, we will contact the students in those rooms and they will be expected to pay for the damages.

Other prohibited items include, but are not limited to: e-cigs/vapes, illegal drugs, tobacco, fireworks, firearms, knives, weapons, condoms, anything illegal, skateboards, sports balls (basketballs, footballs, etc.), waterguns, etc.

My student is bringing medications. How does that work?

If a student brings a prohibited item to camp or has behavioral issues, they may be sent home early. If this is the case it is your responsibility as parent/guardian to come to camp to pick them up. By sending your student to camp, you are agreeing to this policy. All medications must be turned in at check-in IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINER. This includes sleeping aids, over-the-counter pain/cold medications, vitamins, etc. Leaders will distribute medications as needed at MYC. This is both to ensure your student takes their medications and to prevent medications from being misused. Epipens and inhalers can stay with your student, but we ask that you note it on their registration. Any medications not turned in at MYC check-in will be confiscated.

What happens if my student brings a prohibited item or has behavioral issues at MYC?

If a student brings a prohibited item to MYC or has behavioral issues, they may be sent home early at the discretion of the Head Counselors and their campus YTH Pastor. If this is the case it is your responsibility as parent/guardian to come to Rochester to pick them up. By sending your student to MYC, you are agreeing to this policy.

Transportation & Check-In

Where do students check in for MYC?

Students will ALL check in at the Apple Valley Campus this year. We will be doing a full YTH+ session with lunch at the campus instead of down in Rochester this year. Please be sure to arrive ON TIME at 12pm for check-in and lunch so we can start YTH+ right away.

How will students get to Rochester for MYC?

After the YTH+ Session and lunch, we will have students board buses and we will all bus down to Rochester together!

Is my student able to drive themself?

No. Students are not allowed to drive themselves to Rochester for any reason. See next question if you have a schedule conflict.

My student has a schedule conflict. Are they able to arrive late or be picked up early?

Yes! Students who are only able to attend for part of the time in Rochester due to schedule conflicts are still welcome to attend! A parent or guardian must drop them off at the hotel rather than the student driving themself (or them and friends) to Rochester. If the only way for them to attend is if they drive, then we ask that they plan to join us next year instead.

Students who will be arriving at the hotel late or being picked up early, must get approval from the youth coordinator via email (youth@rivervalley.org) no later than 48 hours PRIOR to the trip otherwise it will not be approved. Discounts will not be given for doing your own transportation.

Pricing & Refunds

What is your refund policy?

25 days prior to event - no refunds

35 days prior to event - 50% refund

35+ days prior to event - full refund

Why is the River Valley cost for MYC more than the cost I’m seeing on the MYC registration website?

We have made adjustments this year to bring the cost down compared to previous years. However, we understand that the price may still seem high. Our pricing includes the cost of some meals, hotel, transportation, chaperones, etc. We recommend registering before the Early Bird deadline to take advantage of the most affordable pricing. If cost is an issue, please consider applying for a scholarship or even a partial scholarship! We want to see your student at MYC!

The pricing listed on the MYC website is just for the convention ticket itself. Should a student choose to only purchase a convention ticket on their own, they may not participate in anything with the River Valley group, utilize River Valley transportation, etc. River Valley and the chaperones River Valley sends will not be responsible for them during their time in Rochester.

Rooming

Are chaperones/leaders roomed in the same room as students?

No, we do not room leaders or chaperones in the same room as students. We do, however, make sure leaders are roomed on the same floor/nearby the students they are over.

How are students roomed for MYC?

We do our best to accommodate roommate requests as best as we can for MYC. We guarantee that all students will be with at least ONE student they requested, but we cannot guarantee they will be with everyone they request. Each room is limited to 4 students maximum. Beds on floors are not permitted. More than four people in a room is prohibited per hotel policy.

Other Questions

What is the age for this event?

Students must currently be in 6th- 12th grade and be attending River Valley YTH.

Who do you ask to go as chaperones?

We send one approved and background checked YTH leader or parent to chaperone 2 rooms of students. This means each leader will be responsible for 6-8 students over the course of our time in Rochester. Students are not allowed to walk alone throughout Rochester and must be with their leader at all times.

When students register, they are able to enter their Wednesday YTH small group leader. We try our best to put this leader over the students who list them. All leaders go through a vetting process by our YTH team. We only send the BEST leaders to MYC!

My student requires a PCA for MYC. How can this be accommodated?

Please email youth@rivervalley.org before registering with specifics on what your student needs and if you have someone who could go as a PCA for your student.

What food is provided at MYC?

We will provide two dinners and one lunch. All other meals should be covered by the student. There are several spots in the mall connected and surrounding our hotel where students can get food. There are also fridges and microwaves available at the hotel if you choose to bring snacks or some food options. Students must walk with their leader to get food!

What should I expect at late-night Dodgeball?

After the last session, all students will go back to the hotel to get in their dodgeball themed costumes. We will announce our theme at a later date (reminder…no body paint or glitter). Then we will ride the bus to a nearby high school where students will compete in a dodgeball tournament. Only students who have noted on their registration in advance will be able to compete on a dodgeball team.

If students do not wish to participate in the tournament, we will have other games, food, and activities they can do. All students must head to the high school for the first portion. They can also choose to be on the first bus back to the hotel if they wish to head back early!

My student would like to participate in Flag football. Does River Valley do this?

No, River Valley does not participate in the Friday morning flag football tournament.

My student would like to do a different late-night activity. Can River Valley accommodate this?

No, River Valley only participates in late-night dodgeball. We are unable to accommodate students who wish to do a different activity.
