Prayer Forward

Often we don’t think about praying forward because we are focused on our past or our present. Praying for your own needs is a good thing, but praying for others teaches us to see beyond ourselves.

Here are some scriptures in the Bible that help us understand more about praying for others:

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf,  and give thanks for them.”

1 Timothy 2:1

“Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives.”

1 Timothy 2:2

“When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!”

Job 42:10

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Acts 20:35

Whenever someone prays for you, challenge yourself to receive it, and then go pray for someone else!

How do you pray forward?

  • Each week make a list of people you want to pray for.
  • Once a week, as a family, write a card together for someone you are praying for.

Be encouraged to pray for someone today!
