Who Has God Created You to Be?

Who has God created you to be? We can go through most of our life trying to answer that question. As we grow up, our parents may try to help us answer that question. Sometimes our friends may offer up their thoughts and opinions. But the only One who can accurately answer that question is the one who created us.

“…all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16)

God knows us better than we know ourselves. He created and designed us for a specific purpose and destiny. He wants us to know Him. As we engage in a personal relationship with God, he begins to reveal His plans for us.

Unfortunately, we don’t always listen to God’s voice. It’s easy to listen to the voices that speak lies into our lives. Voices that tell us we’re not worthy, not wanted, or not valuable.

The Bible tells us that the enemy of our soul is a liar and the father of all lies (John 8:44). His goal is to discredit God’s Word, deceive us through his lies and disconnect us from God. Listening to the wrong voices keeps us from the abundant life that Jesus talks about.

Jesus tells us in John 8:32, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

It’s the truth that we know that sets us free. God is the source of our freedom. As we allow God’s Word to speak to us and really believe it, it will begin to transform the way we think, the way we see ourselves, and the way we live.

At River Valley Church, we’re passionate about helping people become all that God created them to be. Through our Freedom Lifegroups and Freedom Encounter we allow God’s Word to speak to us which helps us know our true identity, value, and purpose. By listening to God’s voice we are able to know His heart for us.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)
