Prince of Peace

Christmas is only 10 days away! As we prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming of our Savior, let’s take time to meditate on the peaceful nature of God.

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us, The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.” – Isaiah 9:6

This scripture names Jesus Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. These four names perfectly describe the kind of Messiah we all desperately need.

Wonderful Counselor: We need a wonderful counselor to provide us with guidance and direction. His wisdom directs us when we don’t know where to go.

Almighty God: We need an almighty God to lend us His strength when we are weak. He has power over every circumstance in our lives.

Everlasting Father: We need an everlasting Father that will care for and comfort us when we feel alone. Each of us is a part of the family of God, and that means that we are never alone.

Prince of Peace: We need a prince of peace to provide us with stillness in the midst of life’s certain storms. The peace of God surpasses all understanding. Nothing in the world can take it away.

We serve a God who wants us to live in peace at all times. As we count down the days to Christmas, surrender your circumstances to God’s will and ask Him for peace. He is the Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace, and He can meet your every need.

Prayer

  • Are there things this Christmas season that have been causing you to worry? Take a few minutes today to write them down.
  • Ask God, “How can I cover these thoughts in peace?”
  • As you ask God for his peace, meditate on the titles in Isaiah 9:6.
