The American theologian A.W. Tozer once stated, “I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.” These are powerful words from a man who understood that when we gather together as God’s people, we are practicing for eternity.
Heaven is described as a place that is filled with worship (Revelations 5:11-12) so let us be a people who takes every opportunity in the here and now to rehearse for the indescribable atmosphere that awaits in glory.
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Let’s ask ourselves, Do we love coming to church? Is the worship and singing just a part of our “religious routine”? Do we realize that we can be active participants in bringing a little bit of heaven to earth? Today is the day that we make this our prayer focus.
- Pray that we would be a church that “seeks” (2 Chronicles 7), that we would seek the face of God and more of Him in our weekend services and in our everyday lives.
- Pray that we would be a church that is “filled” ( Acts 4, Acts 13), that we would be filled with the Holy Spirit and with His joy as we live for Jesus, love one another, and gather together in worship.
